The National Hockey League has announced their midterm rankings for draft eligible players, with a pair of Barrie Colts making the list.
Center Mark Scheifele is third in rookie scoring in the Ontario Hockey League and second in team scoring with ten goals and 35 assists for 45 points in 40 games.
The 6’2” Kitchener resident is ranked 21st and will play in the Home Hardware CHL/NHL Top Prospects Game in Toronto on January 19th.
Scheifele has seen his stock rise since being ranked 19th in the Ontario Hockey League back in mid-November. Scheifele is now the ninth ranked player in the OHL, behind Landeskog, Dougie Hamilton, Saad, Murphy, Namestnikov, Jensen, Jenner and former Colt Ryan Strome.
Colts goaltender John Chartrand is the sixth-ranked goalie in the OHL and 19th in North America.
The Barrie native joined the Colts in December and is 4-3-1 in nine games played.
The NHL Draft will be held in Minnesota on June 24th and 25th.
