Colts forward, Hunter Haight, didn’t have to wait long to hear his name called on the second day of the NHL Draft in Montreal.
Surrounded by 10+ family & friends, Haight was chosen by the Minnesota Wild with the 47th selection in the draft.
Haight becomes the first Barrie Colt drafted by the Wild since Eric Reitz was chosen 170th overall in the 2000 NHL Draft. Haight was the sixth OHL player drafted over the two days.
“When I was at the combine, I had a really good conversation with them during my interview and I felt really comfortable with them.” Added newly drafted Minnesota Wild Prospect, Hunter Haight.
“It’s a great accomplishment for Hunter and his family who both have worked hard to earn this. The great thing about Hunter is he knows this is just the beginning for him in his hockey journey and is going to put in the work to get better every day. We’re extremely proud to watch him go through this with Minnesota and we’re looking forward to this upcoming season as he will be a key contributor to our team.” Added Head Coach & GM, Marty Williamson.
The entire Barrie Colts organization would like to congratulate Hunter and his family on this great accomplishment.
