The Barrie Colts and Oshawa Generals have completed a trade.
The Colts acquire 2002 born goaltender, Matthew Sbrocca, from the Generals in exchange for the rights to prospect, Thomas Stewart.
The LaSalle, ON native stands 6.03 & 199lbs, Matthew was originally drafted by the Generals in the 2017 OHL Priority Draft in the seventh round 131st overall. He joins the Colts after spending the 2019-20 season with the LaSalle Vipers of the GOJHL.
During his only appearance of the 2021-22 OHL pre-season, he stopped 33/34 shots and recorded a .971 SAV% in the Generals loss.
“We are excited to add Matthew to our club and look forward to having him be a part of the team moving forward. Matthew was a goalie our scouts identified in his OHL draft year and have paid close attention to since. We think Matthew has a lot to prove and we look forward to helping him continue his OHL career” commented Head Coach & GM, Marty Williamson.
The Barrie Colts would like to thank Thomas Stewart for his professionalism since originally drafting him in 2018 and want to wish him the best of luck with Oshawa.
Colts Country, join us in welcoming Matthew to Barrie!
