The Barrie Colts announced on Friday that center Mark Scheifele has been invited to Canada’s National Junior Team Sport Chek Summer Development Camp.  

Hockey Canada in partnership with the Canadian Hockey League announced that Scheifele is one of 46 players invited to the camp that takes place in Edmonton and Fort McMurray Alberta from August 3rd to 7th.  

The 2012 IIHF World Junior Championship will be held from December 26th, 2011 to January 5th, 2012 in Calgary and Edmonton.

Scheifele was acquired by the Colts from Saginaw in August of 2010 and played his first full season in the OHL last year.  The 6’3” Kitchener resident finished second in team scoring with 22 goals, 53 assists and 75 points in 66 games played.  

He finished second in rookie of the year voting and led all first-year players in assists.  

Scheifele will be in St. Paul, Minnesota on June 24th for the NHL Entry Draft where he is expected to be picked in the first round.  Scheifele enters the draft as the 16th ranked skater in North America.
