The Barrie Colts are proud to announce today that forward Tanner Pearson has signed a three-year entry-level contract with the Los Angeles Kings.

The Kings selected the Kitchener native in the first round (30th overall) of June’s NHL Entry Draft.

Pearson finished third in scoring in the Ontario Hockey League with 37 goals and 54 assists for 91 points in 60 games played in his second season with the Colts.

Last season the 19 year-old forward represented Team Canada at the World Juniors where he won a bronze medal.  He also played for Team OHL in both legs of the Subway Super Series, played in the Home Hardware CHL/NHL Top Prospects Game and was named to the OHL Second All-Star team.

The Colts originally selected Pearson in the 14th round of the 2008 Ontario Hockey League Priority Selection.
