BRODIE LEADS FLAMES IN SCORING

T.J. Brodie’s impressive run with the Calgary Flames has come to an end, for the time being at least.  Brodie was sent down from Calgary to their AHL affiliate, the Abbotsford Heat on Tuesday night.

After an impressive pre-season in which he posted four goals and helped the Flames go undefeated in the exhibition schedule, Brodie made his regular season NHL debut on October 7th.

Brodie played himself in to the Flames lineup on opening night, getting the nod ahead of veterans Steve Staios and Cory Sarich.

After going 7-0 in the pre-season the Flames were knocked off on opening night by their provincial rivals, the Edmonton Oilers.  Edmonton scored three times in the third period and shut-out the Flames 4-0.  Brodie was a minus-one in just under 17 minutes of ice-time.

Brodie went on to play in the next two games for Calgary, but did not register a point as the Flames went 1-2.

Brodie played 46 games for the Colts last year and helped them reach the Ontario Hockey League Finals, finishing the season with seven goals and 56 points.  After being knocked out of the playoffs by Windsor, Brodie joined the Abbotsford Heat.

Brodie made his pre-season NHL debut against the Canucks on September 21st, he was a plus-one in 16:51 of ice time while registering one shot on goal.  Four days later Brodie would see his ice time increase by nearly ten minutes against the Tampa Bay Lightning, while he ripped home a pair of power play goals in the Flames 5-4 win.
