The Barrie Colts and Mississauga St. Michael’s Majors played game five of their first round best-of-seven series Saturday night before a great crowd at the Barrie Molson Centre.

Norm Ezekiel scored the game-winner and was named the first star.  Steven Beyers added a goal and Mathias Niederberger stopped 26 of 27 shots for his third win of the playoffs.

The Majors opened the scoring in the first period on the power play as Dylan DeMelo tipped home his first of the post-season from Stuart Percy and Riley Brace.

Less than five minutes later, while short-handed, Brandon Maxwell misplayed the puck and Beyers was the benefactor, as he stripped the Majors goalie and tied the game at one with 4:40 left to play in the first period.

After a scoreless second period Aaron Ekblad and Joshua MacDonald set up Ezekiel for the game-winning goal at the 7:48 mark.

The Colts can wrap up this series in Mississauga on Monday night for game six of this series.
