The Barrie Colts scored three times in the first five minutes of the game en route to a 5-1 victory against the Oshawa Generals at the BMC Saturday night.
The Colts win their second straight game and seventh in their last nine and get set to play the Generals again on Monday.
Ivan Telegin followed up a great performance one night earlier in Kitchener with two goals and one assist while grabbing first star honours. Tanner Pearson, Steven Beyers and Colin Behenna all had a goal and an assist, while Daniel Erlich also chipped in with two points.
Captain Behenna started the game off with a bang with his 23rd of the season just 18 seconds after the puck drop. Mark Scheifele picked up the lone assist, as Behenna notches his third goal in the last two games.
The Colts then took to the power play and it was Steven Beyers picking up goal number 16 from Pearson and Behenna at the 3:03 mark.
Just 1:14 later Ivan Telegin scored his first of two from Erlich and Zach Hall to make it 3-0 on just five shots.
The Colts would jump out to a 4-0 lead in the second period on Pearson’s 33rd of the year from Beyers and Telegin.
The Generals would score their only goal of the contest later in the second and then Telegin put home his 19th from Erlich late in the third.
Mathias Niederberger made 26 saves for the win as he out-played Daniel Altshuller who stopped 32 of 37 Barrie attempts.
