The Barrie Colts have now won two straight against Owen Sound after a 3-1 win at the Harry Lumley Bayshore Arena Wednesday night. The Colts pull within a game of evening the season-series with the Attack and will travel back to Owen Sound next Wednesday.
Ivan Telegin scored the game-winner two minutes in to the third period, as the Colts get back in to third place in the Eastern Conference.
Owen Sound opened the scoring early in the first period when Daniel Catenacci tallied his 32nd goal of the season. Chris Bigras delivered a shot on goal that was knocked down by Mathias Niederberger, and Catenacci was positioned perfectly to punch home the rebound.
19 seconds later the Colts responded with a Tanner Pearson goal that squared the game at one each. Colin Behenna centered to Pearson who went up high on Scott Stajcer for his 34th of the campaign.
Pearson now has five goals in five games against Owen Sound this year, while Catenacci ups his point total to nine against Barrie.
After a scoreless second period the Colts snagged their first lead of the game when the red-hot Ivan Telegin beat Stajcer for his 27th from Steven Beyers.
Telegin has been held pointless in just four of his last 14 games and has collected 14 goals and six assists in that span, including eleven goals in his last seven games.
Reid McNeill was back in the lineup for Barrie and scored in to an empty net with 58 seconds left in regulation to ice the Colts road victory.
The Colts have won eleven of 14 games overall and will host the Rangers Thursday at the BMC. Just 12 days ago the Colts walked in to the Aud in Kitchener and defeated the Rangers 5-3.
