Team Blue takes down Team White in Intersquad Game

In the annual Blue & White Training Camp game, Team Blue came out with the win after putting up three two period goals and another in the third to take it 4-2 over Team White.

The first period didn’t see a goal, but saw the momentum build. Both teams saw chances with early opportunities from Zach Magwood, along with big saves from Christian Propp. Late in the period, Aidan Brown had a great chance to get Team White on the board when he rang a wrist-shot off the post.

Only a minute into the period, Team Blue got on the board when Ben Hawerchuk went top-shelf for his first goal of the game. Zach Magwood and Giordano Finoro assisted on the first goal of the game.

Less than three minutes later, Team White would even the score with a shorthanded tally when Konnor McCormick, Barrie’s 14th round pick in 2015, wired one home.

It wouldn’t take long for Team Blue to regain the lead when Giordano Finoro put home a cross crease feed from Barrie’s 1st round pick in 2016, Tyler Tucker. Adrian Carbonara would assist on the goal that gave Team Blue a 2-1 lead.

Before the end of the second period, Team Blue would extend their lead to two after Ben Hawerchuk scored his second goal of the game. Barrie’s 20th pick overall in the 2016 draft, Jack McBain had the first assist on Hawerchuk’s goal, while Tyler Tucker also assisted.

Early in the third period, Team Blue would score their final goal of the game when Lucas Chiodo finished on a great play after being set up by Giordano Finoro.

The final goal of the game would see Team White bring themselves within two goals. Jason Willms, Barrie’s 3rd round pick in 2015, found the back of the net, while Kyle Auger, acquired earlier in the summer from the Windsor Spitfires, and Barrie’s 6th round pick in 2015, Jaden Peca, both assisted on the goal.

The Colts hit the road to begin their pre-season tomorrow night in Niagara at 7pm. They follow that up with a game against the Owen Sound Attack on Sunday afternoon at 2pm, before coming back to the Barrie Molson Centre for four home games.

On October 1st, the Colts kick off the regular season when they welcome the London Knights to town. For tickets to pre-season and regular season games, click here.
