Barrie, ON– Barrie Colts General Manager & Head Scout Jason Ford announced today that they have completed a trade with the Eastern Conference, Sudbury Wolves.

The Colts acquire a 2nd round pick (Sudbury’s) in 2021, 2nd round pick (Sudbury’s) in 2023, 3rd round pick (Owen Sound’s) in 2018 and a 5th round pick (Hamilton’s) in 2019 from the Wolves in exchange for forward Kirill Nizhnikov.

Nizhnikov was originally drafted by the Mississauga Steelheads in the 2016 OHL Priority Selection Draft, before being shipped to Barrie shortly after. The 17 year old was in his second year with the club and had played a total of 68 games in his season and a half with the Barrie Colts. The Russian forward picked up 30 points in that span, recording 15 goals and 15 assists.

It won’t be long before the two meet again as Barrie plays host to Sudbury at the end of the month on December 28th at 7:30pm.

Barrie is next in action tomorrow night as they head to Mississauga to take on the Steelheads at 7:00pm.
